Our Weight Calculator Explained:
We created this weight calculator because of the questions that we receive constantly about how much a barrel will weigh before/after cutting, fluting, or when finished.
It's difficult to answer these questions effectively without an approximate weight per inch (W.P.I.). We say "approximate" because the calculator (at this time) only generates numbers based on a straight section without rifling. This means that the weight will be slightly under what the actual weight per inch will add or remove on a tapered barrel. It is correct for a straight cylinder/cutoff. If you have a weight class you are trying to get into, this may help. The Shooter's Shed "Barrel Weight Calculator"(above) is a better resource for full contour information.
Any corrections, additions, or suggestions can be sent to the general email box.

The formula used is as follows: (Note: OD = Outside Diameter, T = Wall Thickness, length is always 1.00")
Weight per inch (straight) is (OD-T) * T * 3.14 * length = Value in^3 * 4.53oz/in3 = Ounces/inch

The only three items you should need to adjust is:
Bore Diameter (NOT GROOVES!)
Muzzle Diameter
Taper Per Inch
